I was knocking on each of the doors that were locked and requesting permission to enter - only one allowed me access. Along with a young man, and a young woman. They were both human.
[into the elevator they go!!]
It was troubling - and so I need you to listen to me carefully so that one of us may remember what transpired in case my memory erodes.
no subject
You went inside of a door? Are you sure it wasn't your room? Who-- [Damn. Higekiri isn't going to remember who the fuck he was with!!] The two others:
What did they look like, elder brother?
no subject
A young blonde woman who was a civilian, and lacks experience in dealing with the supernatural or disturbing. A young man with dark hair, similarly lacks experience in combat, but possesses a temper. Bring up your device with everyone's faces, I will point them out to you.
[higekiri is a fool but also isn't a fool do you know how much i suffer
because his memory on missions is actually fine - because he cares about his missions, he cares about the people who are in his charge, and so he pays attention]
The room was dark when we first entered, and we had to illuminate it in order to see anything. There was a large bed inside, as well as a number of technological devices. One was a 'computer' and it had a screen that would display anything that was viewed through another device that was called a 'camera'. The camera stood on three legs, and had an eye that could be viewed through. [he'll gesture with his hands to explain the size and shape of the things he's describing] There was also a device that possessed a number of switches and buttons, as well as slots for 'cassettes' to be inserted into.
[he
pulls out a cassette from his back pocket actually, and hands it to Hiza to hold. it looks like the label is scratched up but 1ST is legible.]
This is a cassette. I found it in something called a 'locker', which is a storage compartment.
[they're probably outside hiza's room, assuming hiza led the way???]

Hizamaru might be focused entirely on his brother, but he does, in fact, guide them back to his room because it's what his brother said he wanted--a bath.] Elder brother... [There's so much he doesn't understand, though he does get the gist in how his brother explains.
His hands turn the cassette over slowly. 1ST? Hm. His brows knot.] Elder brother, [While he pauses to use the clamshell device to get into the room.] did you put this into the device that let them go inside?
no subject
[shitposts into every fucking room in the hotel
anyway,]
I almost wish that I was the one to place the tape inside... Ah - but first, before that, everything in the room seemed to come to life when the young man touched the device... Mm, the camera. The bed began to shake, and the screen attached to the computer - a 'monitor' - as well as through the camera lens showed an image of the three of us engaging in loud sexual acts.
It was stopped when the young lady took the cassette from me and placed it inside the device with the switches. The flights flickered off and she screamed - I went to get the lights and when I looked back at the monitor, the image showed the version of myself and the version of the young man torn to pieces, our bodies ripped apart. In addition, we lacked faces.
[he continues to be calm about this?? also like it's just his brother so he doesn't mind going straight for the bathroom and beginning to remove his clothes because he wants a shower for reasons he'll explain in a little bit]
When the lights turned on again, there was no one there. But the young lady was rather scared - she said that something had grabbed her, and that she could not move.
no subject
Elder brother?! Please be careful! You could have been in danger!
[He almost doesn't want to touch the cassette... so he puts it down on the counter just inside the bathroom. More important things are happening, like trying to help his brother get washed.
Which is him holding his hands and arms out so he can take Higekiri's clothes as they're removed.]
Was that all that happened...?
no subject
Ah, there it is.
[IN THE TUB HE GOES
but then he'll turn to hizamaru and offer a smile]
No, there is more.
But you know just as well as I that is is our duty to protect - and in this scenario, it would be more fitting if harm were to befall me than the other two present. They were non-combatants. Even if there is danger, I would have been the most equipped to endure it.
no subject
[SHEESH. Hizamaru puts the clothes down on top of the cassette, and moves over to make sure the bath doesn't explode--or is too hot or too cold. He knows Higekiri wouldn't have forgotten the difference in temperature, BUT LOOK. Higekiri is so carefree he might simply leap--
There he goes.]
I know... You're strong, elder brother. I know you would have protected them easily. [He removes his gloves and squats by the bath, hanging his wrists over.] Just... if it's the Revisionists...
Please be careful, elder brother.
no subject
IT'S NOT A WARM BATH REALLY but he doesn't seem to be all too concerned about it - rather, he's actually fairly interested in the water. He scoops some of it into his palms, then lets the liquid fall through his fingers - clear. It's still quite clear, and his brow furrows in thought before he actually responds to Hizamaru]
... mm, I intend to move forward with caution - though not at the expense of others.
I do not know if it is the Revisionists... I wonder if they would be capable of deceit and magic of this power. They would have tried to engage us in combat by now, wouldn't they?
Ah - but continue to listen well. There is more to what I experienced, and I trust you to remember for both of us, my reliable younger brother.
kinning higekiri
I was wondering why they haven't attempted to fight us, too. Kagachi-san thinks they may not be involved since nothing here feels familiar.
[Looking up, he straightens his back a bit without rising from his crouch beside the tub.] Hai! [He's all ears and full of attention.]
Please continue, elder brother!
STOP
Where did I leave off...
Mm - right. The first cassette. The young man took the second cassette from me and placed it inside the device - we heard some odd noises, but at the very least there were no new visuals. It was a man's voice reading a story... something about how someone was saying that they were 'so sorry', and then it grew more distorted as someone said 'come lay with me'. Following that, we tried to leave... however the door was locked.
I discovered that when viewed through the lens of the 'camera', the bed still showed all the parts of the human bodies that were torn apart. The people who were in the room with me seemed to have been covered in blood, but when I looked away from the eye of it the 'camera', they were clean. So... perhaps in another layer of the world, we were covered in human entrails.
[this is
why he wanted a bath, for the record, and why he's cleaning himself now. he's not exactly vain, but he likes to be clean? style is important?]
When I moved the camera - I could see the duplicate of the woman sitting on the desk. She waved at me, before disappearing from the room. She was faceless, just as my duplicate and the young man's duplicate were. I received the additional hint that I needed to place the first cassette - [a gesture to where the one being covered by his clothes is] - back in to be played. The same man read another story.
... Hmm, it's hard to recall - he said names that began with an H and a C... and more importantly, he said that there were once 33 of them, and now there were 12. They were being hunted. There was a mention of someone's brother... and something that happened to them. He felt guilty for a choice that he had made, and could not say who he had chosen to protect... I think.
The young man I was with wrote down everything using the materials from the desk - please confer with him about what exactly was said.
Once the final story was recited, we were able to leave the room - however as we departed, we witnessed the room entirely place itself back together as if we were never there.
Do you understand? If you have questions, it would be best to ask now.
[while his memory is clear, because even he's not sure if he'll remember this much detail on like. tuesday.]
no subject
[His face falls, mouth open. The story is horrible. He can't believe... his brother endured this without him! (Junpei and Beck were there?) WITHOUT HIM. His poor brother!
Without really being conscious of it, he goes about getting a washcloth and some soap. This definitely isn't going to be a tub soak. They'll just let the water out and run more for that. He doesn't want to interrupt Higekiri, so he is quiet and diligent while listening, and at the end, he offers the soapy cloth to Higekiri.]
I understand... I will remember this! [As much as he can.] I'm sorry I wasn't there with you, elder brother. It's alright now--you're safe.
[He rinses his hands and then shakes them gently off before digging around in his jacket for the clam-phone.]
If we look on the strange shell device, will you show me who the two people there with you were?
[He'll pull it up to go through them one at a time.]
no subject
[at Beck:] This was the woman. She's a noncombatant and very shaken from the ordeal. I would like to watch over her, and make sure no further harm falls on her.
[at Junpei:] This was the man. When frustrated, he acts rashly and aggressively. I believe he's rather intelligent, and good with technology, but I worry he may occasionally forget the danger that gets posed to the people around him. Even so, please be familiar with him.
Could you continue scrolling? There are others that I have met that I think you should be aware of. [and then casually:] Someone tried to steal me, after all.
no subject
[As instructed, he continues scrolling through the device so that Higekiri can see the others.]
I can speak to him about what you saw, if he'll-- [He gawks suddenly.] Elder brother?! Someone tried to steal you?! [And then his eyes blaze, narrowing.]
It was that man, wasn't it?! The one who said he was you! He was Chinese and had long hair and a flute!
no subject
[but that's just what higekiri thinks - and he'll just laugh at the mention of the other higekiri]
No, not at all. He was very fun to talk to. I almost wonder if he is another Higekiri? We get along very well. [BAD
but when hizamaru flips to Illumi's profile:]
It was this man. He's an assassin, and would like to kill our captors. He also doesn't have any friends, or believe he should have a life outside of being an assassin.
[a beat]
He's very funny.
no subject
[UGH. Stupid... Chinese... flute... pretending to be his big, cool brother! Anyway.
His attention returns to the device as Higekiri keeps going.]
Elder brother... He tried to steal you, don't say he's funny!
no subject
Maybe he just thought it was fun to be me? He's correct, of course.
[it's very fun to be hige]
Mm, but he is... He doesn't have a favorite type of drink, and says he has no desires. No human like that can really exist, right? Regardless... be careful around him. I haven't mentioned you... I don't think... so perhaps you will be able to evade his attention so he doesn't try to steal you as well.
no subject
Are you sure he's human...? [Not having a favorite drink, or any desires... Wow, that doesn't sound very human at all!] Maybe he only said that because he's an assassin, so he doesn't want you to know how strong he is.
[That's gotta be it, right.]
I'll be careful, elder brother. [The cursed energy of Illumi and Higekiri bonding over being big brothers.] I won't let him steal me, and I won't let him steal you either.
Did he say why he wanted you...?
no subject
I believe he only wants me because he is curious. He's never met anyone like us before, after all.
[but that's just hige's guess??]
Continue to scroll. I found an ally here as well.
no subject
[With graveness, Hizamaru nods in understanding. Powerful, got it. He'll have to keep an eye on Illumi. As instructed, he keeps scrolling again so that Higekiri can point out the rest of the people.]
An ally? Is it Kagachi-san?
no subject
[but it's said fondly, because he does think it's endearing how much hizamaru worries. but also haha wow totally not the life for higekiri]
Mm... maybe...? Someone who calls themselves a Watcher and wields a scythe.
I believe I will go find him after my bath, so that I can also tell him what I witnessed.
no subject
[When the two of them inadvertently told Kagachi he was a good ally. Hm.]
Will you be okay going by yourself? [He flicks through the device and then turns it around so Higekiri can see Kagachi. This dude?] Do you want me to come, too, elder brother?
no subject
genjis
but regardless Higekiri will be nodding at the image of Kagachi that appears.]
Yes, I should be alright. If I forget anything when I speak to him, then you would know it. You ought to speak with the man I was in the room with so that you can get a more specific idea of what the voice on the speaker said.
He already knows that I'm telling you, so he won't be surprised when you ask.
no subject
[In the end, even if he worries about Higekiri, he still believes a lot in his brother's strength and fortitude, so. Everything will be fine.]
I'll talk to Junpei-san while you talk to Kagachi-san.
[The device goes back into his pocket, and he peers at Higekiri for a moment.] These bodies get wrinkles if you stay in water for too long. Strange, right? [He dips a hand into the water and uses it to splash Higekiri some, his grin small but mischievous.]
Are you ready to get out? I'll get a towel.
no subject
[but regardless higekiri will just laugh a bit at the splash, lifting one of his hands from the bath and flicking some droplets at his brother's direction]
I would appreciate it. You may proceed with your information gathering without me afterward - I can dress myself and will take my leave afterward. The humans ought to be cautioned about what danger might await them.
