I'm glad to hear it. [There's a quiet sort of grin. He'd rather not have Hizamaru continue dying of poison so that's good.]
...this is one of those things about humanity that's complicated, I think. An innocent girl tries to defend herself, and we have to punish her. It doesn't make sense, does it?
It doesn't. I don't think Escha-san should be punished for defending herself. [He frowns at their feet.] Do you believe... that was all? That it was all of them and Escha-san, or... there was someone we missed?
...I don't really know. It feels like we missed something based on the clue we got. "Two can keep a secret if both of them are dead." If Aizawa attacked Escha and got himself killed, what happened with Logy and Chuuya? Did Aizawa kill them, too, before going after Escha?
I'm almost positive he was possessed, but I can't tell if the demon is housed inside of Escha now or not. That's the worst of it.
Do you know if Zero-san has taken an antidote? Muzet-san thinks she was poisoned, but... she was not near Aizawa-san. Only I was. Why was Zero-san not sick, if Muzet-san was sick?
[He frowns.]
With Prompto-san, the demon was very strong. Monika-san was aching because the demon used her body in ways it wasn't normally used, right? Because human bodies do not work the same way demon bodies do.
It's the same for us, too. Getting use to human bodies.
...I don't know. I haven't spoken to her since the trial ended, but if you think I should ask I can try. I do find that a little weird that they may have traded positions, but maybe...you're sure she didn't touch anything else?
Muzet was never human, so I think I understand what you're saying. A body that's being used, especially when you're already unused to that body, could have strange effects.
She touched what was on the desk, but said she didn't want to disturb him because of how he was bent, that it may be important. It felt like Zero-san was as close to him as I was, but she wasn't kneeling with me.
I'm just... confused. As to why she would be sick, but Zero-san would not. Unless... Zero-san had taken an antidote last night like I had. I don't think Muzet-san is pretending to be ill. If she had been there... But Escha-san said she remembers Aizawa-san attacking her...?
[Again, he shakes his head.]
I'm sorry, Junpei-san. Perhaps... I am only overthinking because I'm still unwell. I'm not as smart as elder brother with these kinds of things.
I don't think it's bad to talk it out. It's the only way we get answers to anything, and Escha didn't even remember until I started really asking her questions. It's worth looking into even if it doesn't turn out to be anything at all.
I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. [Which is frustrating, too.] If she's still acting strange tomorrow, we should talk to her and check in. It may be worth keeping an eye on her.
[The first place that comes to mind isn't one he thinks he wants to tell Hizamaru because the aquarium is still sad. So instead, he pauses to think about that.]
Think you can meet me in the lounge on the second basement floor? It's probably empty there.
[Puppysword holds up on his promise. He comes wandering up to the lounge maybe fifteen or so minutes after. He has something in his hand, several somethings actually. As he gets closer, Junpei can see he has a bottle of something (hm) and two glasses.
[Oh good. Great. He's okay with this because whiskey is a go-to but also who the fuck gave Hizamaru a bottle of bourbon. Junpei's on a couch and curled up watching nothing in particular but his eyes drift toward Hizamaru when he approaches.]
Hey. That was fast. [There's a tired smile and he eyes the bottle curiously.] Not a terrible choice either.
[Rather than pass off the bottle, he holds out one of the glasses so Junpei can take it. The other, his, he puts down beside him when he sits on the couch opposite Junpei, but facing.] Is it good, Junpei-san? I don't think I have had any before. Sometimes, I wish there was sake. [He peels the wrapping off and then wiggles the corked cap out of the neck.
He holds the bottle out slowly, tipped. He's offering to fill Junpei's glass because... well, he's not a woman, but he's still Japanese.]
The store only had this one, however. I was hoping it was okay.
It should be okay. [Anna is this whiskey cursed. Did something happen. But he allows Hizamaru to pour his glass for him, holding the cup out enough to help.] I found some sake the other day if you want some of that sometime. It took some time, but it's there. This is kind of a stronger taste. More bitter, maybe? But you get used to it.
[I have no idea, but I hope not because it just said BOTTLE OF BOURBON? It's fine...... If it isn't fine, then maybe they both are dead.]
I would like that, Junpei-san. It would be a nice reminder of home.
[Carefully, he pours some of the bourbon into Junpei's glass. He doesn't fill it to the top, but he gives Junpei enough for either a big swallow or a few good sips. When he's finished, then he pours himself some and puts the bottle on the floor out of the way.]
Next time, then. I'll be the one to treat you. [He's fine with the amount and he nods a thanks before taking a sip.] This is fine though. I shouldn't....["Drink too much." The words die on his lips somewhere and he just swallows the bit in his mouth.] This will be alright.
[Paused with the glass below his lips, he blinks at Junpei's hesitation. Afterward, he smiles mildly, a reassuring sort of thing.]
Don't worry. I'll take care of you, Junpei-san.
[Even if that means he has to touch Junpei to drag the man back to the right room--it's fine? It's fine. Finally, he has a sip from his own glass. It's strong? It's strong!! He coughs, short and sudden, after swallowing. The sting makes him wince. He might have to acquire this taste.]
Junpei-san, [a bit hoarsely,] I thought about what you said before. I would like to tell you two things, okay? Did elder brother talk to you about what he saw when he was with Wei Wuxian-san and Kagachi-san?
...I know. I trust you with that. [Which is maybe more than he'd normally say and says enough about where his head is. He looks a little worried when Hizamaru chokes on the strong taste, but he relaxes and nurses his drink when the sword continues.]
Two things...yeah, he did. I spoke to Wei Wuxian, too. And Dick spoke with Kagachi. What they found and what they heard...it was interesting, wasn't it? The hydra theory. And thirteen other entities among the original group.
[His head nods in agreement.] Demons can be very tricky, Junpei-san. Like the one elder brother fought a long time ago. [He frowns into his glass before looking up again.]
Tonbokiri-san and I received strange gifts. The shoes. But we also received something else. On the bottom of one was a note; we thought the note was about the shoes, but... the shoes haven't acted peculiar.
I keep forgetting some of you have experience from before. [He peers over the rim of his own glass, thoughtful yet sharp all at once.]
When did you receive the shoes? And from where? Do you remember? [...it's odd, because the fact that there's a note in a mystery shoe is unsettling enough.]
"They are not as they sound." Could be a reference to how the demons can look and act exactly like us. Unless you think it may be something else?

I can also talk to Zero myself.

Tomorrow. [They’re all tired. It’s easy to table it for now. Better maybe.] Junpei-san...
Would you like some alcohol? Wei Wuxian-san gave me some after I wasn’t able to destroy the demon, when I wasn’t feeling well.
no subject
...only if you're feeling well enough now to have a glass with me. I'm...trying not to drink alone so much.
[Sometimes you drink by yourself and get haunted by your own thoughts. It's a bad time.]

[Even poisoned.]
Where would you like to go? Perhaps the bar isn't... [Well, the one by the pool. Yikes.] --I know what to do.
Tell me where to meet you. Pick somewhere you'd enjoy relaxing. I'll see you there shortly.
